Lothian Buses Charity of Choice
Lothian Buses and our employees suppport many charities every year through our charity committees, employee initiatives, employee donations and prizes.
As a company we are heavily involved in our local community and supportive of local events and charities. As one of the largest employers in the city, we want to make use of our position in Edinburgh and assist local charities that could benefit from our help.
In 2012 we launched our first 'Charity of the Year' partnership. Our focus was not just on raising funds, but on raising awareness to ensure that after the partnership ended the charity would still remain prominent across the city.
Over the last few years we have made a real difference to some of the charities you probably now know.

Being Lothian Buses’ Charity of the Year has been an incredible opportunity for Fresh Start. It has brought a huge level of new awareness of what we do, and not just financial support, but goods donations and in-kind help too. We would like to thank all the Lothian Buses employees and customers for their generosity in helping local people who have experienced homelessness move forward in their lives.

It has been a great privilege to be Lothian Buses Charity of The Year and to see the commitment from all the staff and customers who have done an incredible job raising £20,000 towards our work. Special thanks to Keith and all the team at Marine Depot who organised the Hibs Legends Vs Lothian Buses Allstars Football Match, creating great memories for our children involved. Seeing the smiling faces of Cissie and Amy on our Yard bus still makes us all smile and it has been invaluable in raising awareness of what we do – thank you!

Our year with Lothian Buses has been, quite simply, incredible. Every member of staff we have met has been so friendly and supportive – over 60 employees joined in our Pedal for Paul team and we all fell in love with Anne the ‘elf’ on the Santa bus. We’ve enjoyed twitter conversations with drivers on ‘our’ bus. Talking of the bus it has been the best piece of advertising we could ever have wished for and we have our own ‘busspotters’ club on social media! The behind the scenes tours we have been given have given us all a high regard for the work that everyone at Lothian Buses does. We are sad our year has ended and excited (and very grateful) to have a bus for this coming year.
