Doors Open Day 2017

The numbers and results

We were delighted to have almost 8,000 visitors to our Central Garage on Saturday 23 September for our Doors Open Day.

Everyone, including those who attended our special preview for autistic children from The Yard, had the chance to take open top tours of the garage, buy our new limited edition Lothian merchandise, get their name programmed on a bus destination screen and take part in all the usual family fun such as a bouncy castle, face-painting and mini bus racing.

With your help the event raised over £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, our Charity of Choice.

This year’s Vintage Running Day was also extremely popular carrying thousands of passengers.  Sixteen historic buses operated on our service 26 route, the highlight being a 1949 Daimler bus.

Richard Hall, Lothian’s Managing Director said:

We’re always flattered by how many people want to see behind the scenes of our operations as well as taking a trip back in time on one of the vintage buses, Lothian is a huge part of the City and important to the people that live in it. It’s a really popular event for passengers, families of all ages, and all transport enthusiasts. We pride ourselves on being part of the community and it’s a great day for all of our amazing staff as well as our guests.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made the day so special.  We hope to see you all again next year.
