Fort Kinnaird bus routes are a big success

Customer numbers have increased 50% in the last 6 months

Hundreds of our customers have been using our newly extended services to Fort Kinnaird that launched six months ago.

Since announcing the changes in April, Lothian has seen a 50% rise in the number of passengers using our Service 18 and 49 to travel to the shopping, dining and leisure destination.

The half-hourly Service 18 runs to Fort Kinnaird from the Royal Infirmary via Little France and Greendykes Road, and the Service 49 connects Leith, Lochend and Portobello to Fort Kinnaird every 20 minutes.

Customers and staff travelling to the destination are also delighted to have additional extra early morning and evening buses on the service 30 which provides a 24-hour link to Fort Kinnaird from Musselburgh and Edinburgh city centre.

Liam Smith, Centre Director at Fort Kinnaird, said:

The increased bus services to Fort Kinnaird have been very well-received by our customers and staff. The routes have allowed more people to access our leading selection of stores and restaurants, as well as our cinema. As the Christmas season approaches, catching the bus is a fantastic option for people doing their shopping and enjoying evenings out.

Keith Finlay, Business Development Manager at Lothian Buses, said:

As a business we recognised earlier this year that there was significant demand for smarter bus links to Fort Kinnaird. Development and growth at the shopping centre is on going and we are absolutely delighted that these new links appear to be popular with customers.
