Women on board at Lothian Buses

Celebrating International Woman's Day 2017

Lothian Buses is one of Edinburgh’s largest employers employing over 2000 staff.

We’ve come a long way since our first female bus driver in 1972 and now employ women in a wide range of roles right across our business, including drivers, engineers, supervisors, trainers and administrators.

This International Women’s Day we are proud to say that we have our first female executive directors on our board. Sarah Boyd, Operations Director, and Gaynor Marshall, Marketing and Communications Director, who were both appointed late last year.

Gaynor said:

The whole bus world has traditionally been dominated by men, so it’s inevitable that change can take a while. However I’m really proud to be where we are today, which is being part of an organisation that truly values all staff for what they contribute. The most important issue for Lothian Buses is not the gender of its staff or anything else to do with who they are, but what we can do in our various roles to improve public transport for residents, workers and visitors in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

We are always looking out for talented and committed people across a range of disciplines to join our team. If you would like to work with us, have a look at our current vacancies.
